Our Commitment

We are committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults at risk. We recognise that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and we seek to provide a safe, supportive and caring environment for all.

Our commitment to safeguarding is an expression of our Christian duty to love our neighbour, protect those at risk, and act with justice, compassion, and integrity. Our work is rooted in respect for the dignity and worth of every person, and we aim to ensure that all who participate in the life of the church are protected from harm and are able to flourish.

Our Safeguarding Approach

We have adopted a Safeguarding Policy (v1.0, 08-07-2026) which sets out our principles, responsibilities and framework for safeguarding across all areas of church life.

In line with this policy, we are committed to:

• Promoting a culture of safeguarding and vigilance
• Safely recruiting, supporting and training those who work and volunteer with us
• Responding promptly and appropriately to every safeguarding concern or allegation
• Working in partnership with statutory agencies and other organisations where required
• Maintaining clear lines of accountability for safeguarding leadership and oversight

The Safeguarding Policy is supported by more detailed procedures, guidance and risk assessments for specific activities, which are being developed and maintained as part of our ongoing safeguarding work.

Reporting a Concern

We take all safeguarding concerns seriously.

If you have a concern about the safety or wellbeing of a child, young person or adult at risk, you should:

• Contact our Designated Safeguarding Lead (details below), or
• In an emergency, contact the police or social services directly

We are committed to listening, responding appropriately, and taking all necessary steps to protect those at risk.

Safeguarding Leadership and Accountability

We have appointed designated individuals to oversee safeguarding within the church and to ensure that our policy and procedures are implemented effectively.

Safeguarding is overseen at leadership level and is subject to regular review to ensure that our practice remains robust and up to date.

Our Policy and Procedures

Our Safeguarding Policy (v1.0, 08-07-2026) provides the foundation for our safeguarding practice. It is supported by a developing suite of procedures and activity-specific risk assessments which guide how safeguarding is implemented in practice.
